Volunteer Opportunities With The

Council on Aging of Martin County

In just a few hours a week, you can make a difference in the life of a senior in

Martin County.  Here are some ways for you to get involved:

Meals on Wheels

Volunteer Guild Adult Day Care Center

Do you have a driver’s license, an insured vehicle and 2 hours to spare? Our Meals on Wheels program relies completely on volunteers to deliver hot, noontime meals Monday through Friday to homebound elders who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. We are able to cater to over 12 different dietary needs.  You can help us deliver health and hope to Martin County seniors. Consider delivering with a friend or family member to share the experience!  We have 4 convenient meal sites where volunteers can pick up their meals for delivery near their home.  The training for this program take 20 to 30 minutes and can be scheduled at your convenience. We also encourage groups and businesses to adopt a meal route. It is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of seniors in your community.

Council on Aging Volunteer Guild members assist the Development Department with special fundraising events.  The purpose of these special events is two-fold:  1) to introduce Council on Aging services to the greater community; and 2) to raise funds for Meals on Wheels, adult day care, respite care for those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and other services offered by the Council.  The Council’s special events have been varied and have included community cocktail parties, informal neighborhood bar-b-ques, house parties, wine tasting and craft fairs.  Since guild members can use their own interests and talents to create a special event, the Council is always open to additional ideas and events!  Our development staff works in a most supportive role providing hands-on help wherever needed.

Are you compassionate, upbeat and friendly? Consider volunteering in our Adult Day Care Center, where seniors have a home away from home. For adults who need some assistance, the Adult Day Care provides a comfortable, family-like atmosphere of safety, support, care and companionship. A typical day consists of games, exercises, delicious meals and socializing. There are RNs and CNA's on staff to assist clients with personal needs. Enthusiastic volunteers are needed who will participate in activities, crafts and help serve food at lunch time. Our adult day care seniors also enjoy personal visits and being entertained by individuals and groups with musical, or other types of, talent.  For a rewarding experience, consider volunteering at our Adult Day Care Center.

We can work with you to design a volunteer project for your community group or business
