A home away from home for very special seniors Our comfortable facility has been designed as a country kitchen in cheerful tones of yellow and blue. There is plenty of opportunity for fresh air and relaxation in the large Florida room and garden with fenced yard. From furniture to food to fun, everything at the center has been chosen to accommodate seniors’ special needs, while providing them with some very special times. The stimulation seniors receive helps to maintain their skills and enrich their quality of life. And there is restful time, too. Seniors participate in group activities, but still have plenty of time to relax or pursue their own interests and pastimes throughout the day.
Schedule of activities While every day is different in Adult Day Care, here is an example of activities seniors enjoy!

10 a.m. “Circle of Friends” This “group time” begins with the pledge of allegiance, followed by a discussion of current events from the newspaper and some reminiscence therapy. Then, we get moving with dancing and chair exercises.
Noon Delicious Hot Lunch

Our Family Room The new Ruth Patterson Riess Care Center at the Adult Day Care Center offers a quiet, home-like environment for those with Alzheimer’s Disease and related memory disorders. This new facility offers a similar activity program as that in the larger day care center, but with a modified and individualized special needs schedule. Professional transportation. Transportation to and from the Adult Day Care Center is available Monday through Friday via Community Coach. Our drivers are trained to work with seniors and the physically impaired. Every Community Coach vehicle is equipped with wheelchair lifts. From the moment a senior leaves home in the morning until returning that evening, that senior is surrounded by a continuous circle of care. Our family is here for your family.
The Council’s circle of care for your loved one also extends to families and caregivers. Our certified Geriatric Care Managers can help you to arrange for a wide range of in-home support services. We also provide assistance with the stress of care giving through our Caregiver Support Group. If your family is caring for an elder, our family can help.
Our free Caregiver Support Group meets the first Thursday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Council’s 10th Street campus in Stuart. The group is lead by a certified Geriatric Care Manager. Adult Day Care Costs Since Medicare does not pay for adult day care, there are several options for payment. Some seniors can qualify for free care through Medicaid, the Veteran’s Administration or funding for the developmentally disabled. Some seniors are asked to make a donation toward the costs. Some make a co-payment with government funding paying the balance. And, some seniors pay a fee covering the cost of the service, which is $55 per day or $33 per half day. The payment option is determined through the interview and intake process.
